Jennifer Idol is a Genome Technologist at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine. She is responsible for extracting HMW samples, long read library preparation and new method development. Jennifer is also part of the team that runs and maintains the Sequel II and Oxford GridION systems at JAX.

She received her MS in Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington studying marine macroalgae ecology, morphology and genetics. She then worked in the lab of Dr. Shawn Burgess at the NIH National Human Genome Research Institute in the field of zebrafish hair cell regeneration genetics. Jennifer has been in the Genome Technologies group at The Jackson Laboratory for the past 5 years.
