My lab is interested in understanding how candidate therapies, including exercise, influence cellular mechanisms of addiction and/or PTSD. The overall goal of my first part of my independent research program is to identify the neuronal and cellular mechanisms by which aerobic exercise reduces cocaine-seeking behavior in a rat model. This study will inform the efforts designed to develop effective strategies for cessation of cocaine use.
