Kathlene Gravelin, M.S., CGC

Genetic CounselorNorthern Light Health

Kathlene Gravelin is a Board Certified Genetic Counselor at Northern Light Cancer Care at EMMC. She joined the genetic counseling team at the Lafayette Family Cancer Institute in March of 2023 and is providing cancer genetic counseling services via telehealth. Prior to joining Northern Light Health, she was a cancer genetic counselor at MaineHealth and worked with patients both at Maine Medical Center in Portland and the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta. Her work with rural patients sparked an interest in alternative service delivery models such as telehealth, and she subsequently took a position as a remote genetic counselor at InformedDNA to learn more about providing telehealth services. She is excited to use her background in telehealth services to expand the reach of genetics services to patients in Northern Maine. Kathlene also worked for over 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry in translational cancer research and clinical development of targeted cancer therapies, and has a strong interest in educating patients about how tumor-based genomic profiling is integrated into clinical care and how it differs from genetic testing related to hereditary cancer.
