Yale University

Sigrid Nachtergaele is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at Yale University. She earned her PhD from Stanford University, studying the molecular mechanisms by which sterols influence Hedgehog signaling, and did her postdoctoral work at the University of Chicago in the laboratory of Chuan He. Her postdoctoral work included discovering novel chemical modifications and uncovering the mechanisms by which modifications affect cellular function. She joined Yale University in 2020, and research in her lab focuses both on the tool development required to study the regulation and dynamics of RNA modifications in cells, and on identifying new biological systems in which RNA modifications may play fundamental regulatory roles. Work in the laboratory is funded by the NIH, the Charles H. Hood Foundation, and the Sontag Foundation.
