Dr. Leuschner is an interventional cardiologist and director of the catheter-based valve replacement (TAVR) program at the University Hospital Heidelberg, Germany. He is a Principal Investigator of the German Centre for Cardiovascular research (DZHK, partner site Heidelberg / Mannheim) and his research focusses on cardiac inflammation and the amelioration of cardiac remodeling. Dr. Leuschner is the European Lead Coordinator for this Leducq FoundationTransatlantic Network of Excellence Program entitled “The Inflammatory-Fibrosis Axis in Adverse Cardiac Remodeling: translating mechanisms into new diagnostics and therapeutics (IMMUNO-FIB HF)”. This Transatlantic research network studies the nexus between myocardial inflammation and fibrosis.
