At Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Lavine completed his MD, PhD Medical Scientist Training Program in 2008, Residency in Internal Medicine in 2010, and Fellowship in Cardiology in 2013. He is an Attending Physician and currently serves as Co-Director for the Pediatric Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research Training Program and Director of the Cardiovascular Precision Medicine Research Initiative (CPRi) at Washington University. Dr. Lavine is a Senior Investigator for this Leducq FoundationTransatlantic Network of ExcellenceProgram entitled “The Inflammatory-Fibrosis Axis in Adverse Cardiac Remodeling: translating mechanisms into new diagnostics and therapeutics (IMMUNO-FIB HF)”.

 

Dr. Lavine’s Research interests include understanding the immunological mechanisms that govern cardiac recovery and the pathogenesis of heart failure, with a focus on the mechanisms that distinguish pediatric from adult cardiomyopathy, Pathogenesis of primary graft dysfunction in cardiac transplantation, and understanding the role of macrophages in coronary development and collateral growth of the coronary vasculature.
