Member of the Faculty, Department of Neuroscience and PhysiologyNYU Langone Health
Molly Gale Hammell is an Associate Professor in the Institute for Systems Genetics at NYU Langone. Her lab studies transposable elements (TEs), mobile genetic sequences that normally lie dormant within our genomes, but have the capacity to be both mutagenic and cytotoxic when not properly silenced. In particular, her lab focuses on the mechanisms that de-silence TEs in neurodegenerative disease.
