Computational Techniques and Resources for Effective Translational Research in Alzheimer's Disease

This hands-on workshop is designed to accelerate preclinical Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) research by equipping participants with computational techniques and tools to better utilize multi-scale data from model systems and humans. Participants will receive in-depth training and guidance from expert faculty in bioinformatics, genetics, omics technologies and AD research.
Vascular Contributions to Cognitive Impairment and Dementia (VCID) Conference
May 12 – 15, 2025 | Bar Harbor, Maine
Join us for the VCID Conference, where scientists from diverse fields—vascular biology, neurodegeneration, genetics and computational biology—will come together to tackle critical challenges in this growing area of research. With a focus on participation by graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and junior investigators, this conference and integrated workshops will focus on the fundamentals of VCID, the interface between the human condition and preclinical resources, and will provide networking and career development opportunities.
Principles and Techniques for Improving Preclinical Translation in Alzheimer's Disease

Leveraging the expertise and resources of the Model Organism Development for Evaluation of Late Onset Alzheimer’s Disease (MODEL-AD) Precision Medicine consortium, which includes the University of Pittsburgh, Indiana University, and JAX, this hands-on workshop is an invaluable resource for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, and researchers seeking to enhance their research capabilities in Alzheimer’s Disease studies.
Registration Fee: $1000; $200 Optional Shared Housing
Workshop registration fees include all workshop materials, supplies, and most meals. Optional shared lodging at the Highseas Conference Center.
Payments:
Registration is only confirmed once full payment has been received. Payment in full is due 60 days before the start of the course. You can pay using Visa, Mastercard, or American Express during registration. Wire transfers will be accepted only with prior authorization; contact the event planner for further instructions. All bank charges associated with payment are the responsibility of the course participant.
Receipts:
Receipts will be provided automatically when payment is received via email through the registration system.
Attendees will be responsible for their own travel and lodging arrangements for the duration of this event.
Lodging accommodations at JAX’s Highseas Conference Center is available for an additional fee. Highseas, located approximately 1 mile from The Jackson Laboratory, is a spacious estate built in 1912, overlooking the entrance to Frenchman Bay and adjacent to beautiful Acadia National Park. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to the Conference Center. We do provide shuttles to and from the main campus for the duration of the course. Highseas is handicap accessible (please indicate accessibility needs in registration). This lodging option cannot accommodate families. Rooms may be shared with other participants.
Participants interested in securing off-campus lodging may refer to the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce website for a guide on hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, and short-term rentals in the Bar Harbor area.
Meals will be provided by JAX’s campus dining services throughout the event. Participants staying off-campus may still partake in evening meals at Highseas. Please refer to the event schedule for more information.
Participants must adhere to Maine State travel, health and safety guidelines at the time of the event and use good judgement when arranging lodging. We recommend participants be familiar with their hotel’s cancellation policies prior to booking. The Jackson Laboratory is not responsible for lodging expenses or losses incurred due to the cancellation or rescheduling of an event.
