Phenotype information for 000632 and 000697
B6.Cg-Lepob/J and B6.BKS(D)-Leprdb/J
The leptin (B6.Cg-Lepob/J Stock Number 000632) and leptin receptor (B6.BKS(D)-Leprdb/J Stock Number 000697) mutations lead to very similar phenotypes when on the C57BL/6J genetic background. In contrast to C57BLKS/J background mice (see Stock No. 000642 phenotype), these mice do not maintain hyperglycemia through 20 weeks of age. Data presented as mean values ± standard deviation, n = 30.
- Both mutations lead to extreme obesity in males and females (Figures 1 and 3)
- B6.Cg-Leprob/J mice show the greatest hyperglycemia at 4-6 weeks of age and values subsequently decline over time (Figure 2)
- B6.BKS(D)-Leprdb/J mice show a peak of hyperglycemia at 6-10 weeks of age and values decline thereafter (Figure 4)
