Investigating expression of pluripotency genes, their protein interactions in germ cell tumors, and characterizing and establishing primary cell lines.
My research in the Lau Lab aims to better understand how expression of pluripotency genes contributes to the pathogenesis of germ cell tumors. I utilize immunoprecipitation techniques to study endogenous protein interactions in germ cell tumors, in addition to manipulating protein expression via synthetic binding proteins, cloning, and RNA interference. I also maintain and characterize cell cultures from patient tumor samples using karyotyping and immunofluorescent staining of tumor markers.
