Clinical genomics and precision medicine in the Advanced Precision Medicine Laboratory.
Melissa earned her Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She went on to do a post-doctoral fellowship under Drs. Elizabeth Worthey and Howard Jacob at the Hudson Alpha Institute of Biotechnology. During her post-doctoral training, Melissa gained expertise the use of whole genome sequencing for the diagnosis of rare disease. Following her fellowship, she joined the Hudson Alpha Clinical Services Lab as a Clinical Genomic Variant Scientist and Clinical Genomics Supervisor. In 2022, Melissa became board-certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis as a High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director in Molecular Diagnostics. Melissa joined JAX Genomic Medicine in 2023 and serves as the Clinical Laboratory Director for the Advanced Precision Medicine Laboratory.
