Characterizing mouse strains modeling childhood neuromuscular degenerative diseases.
During my undergraduate program, I conducted research in circadian rhythms, alcoholism, and chytrids. Through my graduate program, I have had rotations in the Neely Lab at UMaine with zebrafish studying streptococcus infections and in the Updike lab at MDIBL with c. elegans studying fertility. Now, I am conducting research in Dr. Greg Cox’s lab studying Spinal Muscular Atrophy with Respiratory Distress 1 (SMARD1) model mice in order to study the disease and explore possible therapies.
