JAX IRB
Institutional Review Board
The JAX IRB is responsible for protecting the rights and welfare of human subjects involved in research activities being conducted under its authority. The IRB adheres to federal regulations for the protection of human subjects as codified in 45 CFR 46. The IRB is supported by the JAX Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and operates in accordance with HRPP/IRB Policies and Procedures.
The Laboratory holds a Federalwide Assurance (FWA) approved by the Office of Human Research Protections/HHS (FWA 00000323). The FWA is an assurance of compliance with the U.S. federal regulations for the protection of human subjects.
JAX uses an online submission system, IRBManager, to streamline and standardize the IRB review process and to store IRB documentation.
The Jackson Laboratory is a participating institution in SMART IRB.
