The Jackson Laboratory

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is an international, independent, nonprofit biomedical research organization with headquarters in Bar Harbor, Maine and facilities in Ellsworth, Maine, Augusta, Maine (at the MaineHealth facility), Farmington, Conn., and Sacramento, Calif.  JAX’s mission is to discover precise genomic solutions to disease and empower the global biomedical community in the shared quest to improve human health.

As a nonprofit organization, JAX is committed to supporting our communities and our employees in ways that align with our strategic goals and mission.

Community Contributions Program

As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, JAX is deeply committed to the various communities that we serve with sponsorships and contributions to other nonprofits and organizations.  Through our review process and a limited budget, we support causes associated most closely with our research and education mission or that contribute significantly to the quality of life for our employees.

If you are requesting a financial contribution, please review the information below and complete our online application.

All charitable requests must be made via our online application.

Support will be focused on the following:

  • Education, particularly science, technology, engineering and math
  • Improve the quality of life in the communities where our employees live
  • Areas of employee interest and involvement (hands-on volunteerism)

Please note JAX’s charitable giving program does not support the following endeavors:

  • Sponsorship of programs, events and meetings for nonprofits, i.e., scientific symposium, annual meetings, galas, etc.
  • Religious activities
  • Political campaigns or benefits
  • Fundraisers or benefits for individuals
  • School trips, including field trips (exceptions may be made for STEM activities)
  • Graduation, proms, holiday parties or other school parties
  • Funding requests for travel expenses
  • Debt reduction or operating costs
  • For-profit organizations
  • Capital fundraising campaigns
