Emily Schorer

Senior Vice President, Chief of Staff and Chief People Officer

Schorer leads all human resources operations for the Laboratory’s workforce and oversees organizational and cultural development, talent acquisition and workforce planning, diversity and inclusion, human resources information systems, total rewards, occupational health, and environmental health & safety services.

As JAX’s chief of staff and chief people officer, Emily Schorer serves as a strategic partner to the president and CEO, providing leadership support on key initiatives, policy development, strategic planning, and operations while overseeing growth initiatives, human resources, environmental health and safety services, inclusion and belonging, ombuds office and strategic communications.

Schorer joined JAX in 2020 as senior vice president and chief human resources officer leading all global human resources operations for JAX’s nearly 3,000 employees. During her tenure as CHRO, Emily provided essential leadership throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, helped to champion the arrival of JAX’s president and CEO in 2022, and established numerous employee-centered programs including establishment of the office of diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Prior to joining JAX, Schorer held roles as senior vice president of human resources for Cape Cod Healthcare and chief administrative officer for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, both in Massachusetts. She is a member of the corporation at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and a trustee of Riverview School, an independent boarding school for students with complex language and learning challenges.

Schorer graduated from Northeastern University with a B.S. in business administration.
