Peter Audano III, Ph.D.

Computational Scientist

Developing tools for genome variant discovery with a focus on complex rearrangements and long-read sequencing.

Audano III has been in the computing industry since 2000 where he worked and earned his BS in Computer Science from Southern Polytechnic State University (now Kennesaw University). In 2012, he left the computing industry to pursue an MS and a PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology where he developed variant discovery techniques in bacteria and was involved in several small cancer studies with Dr. Fredrik Vannberg. In 2016, he joined the University of Washington under Dr. Evan Eichler where he developed methods to apply long-reads to structural variant discovery. In 2021, he joined the Jackson Laboratory under Dr. Christine Beck to study mechanisms of structural variation.
