Collaboration is at the heart of MCGI, which brings cancer genomic testing, education, and drug access infrastructure to Maine and beyond.
A multitude of oncology practices and their respective collaborators in the state participate in MCGI. Initially driven by the need for greater access to genomic tumor testing in Maine, MCGI has become a model for community precision oncology or personalized cancer care in rural settings.
During the first phase of MCGI, over 1,600 people living with cancer in Maine - from Caribou to Kittery - received genomic testing. The second phase of MCGI focuses on enabling deeper integration of precision oncology into community oncology practices in Maine and other states in Northern New England.
